ABOUT

ABOUT

Clearwater House is a delightful property in the hamlet of Roshven close to the village of Glenuig with uninterrupted views across the sea loch to the Ardnish Peninsular. The secluded elevated position offers a wonderful wildlife viewpoint and a path for all year-round access to the loch, woodland and a sandy bay.

The property has been stylishly decorated to provide an exceptional base for family and friends looking to explore the picturesque Highlands and relax in comfort. In the living/dining area there are large windows giving an abundance of natural light and loch views with a wood burning stove. French doors lead to the raised terrace for outside relaxation and alfresco dining.

The first floor provides well-presented three bedrooms all with loch views, consisting of a king, double and a twin, with the master bedroom hosting an en-suite bathroom. Another bathroom is conveniently situated for the other two bedrooms.

The rural location is well placed for a host of activities and places to visit.  Abundance of wildlife with otter, seal, pine marten, red deer sightings locally and white-tailed eagles, golden eagle, curlew, turnstone and oystercatchers. The seasons offer a different feel; during the Autumn there are the bird and butterfly migrations along with the roaring and rutting of the deer in the hills. In Winter the landscape is transformed by frost and snow for some outstanding photography and those wintry days can be felt fully at the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse with rolling swells crashing on the rocks.

During the Spring and Summer the days lengthen to eighteen hours daylight. Opportunities to explore and take part in activities can be interspersed with café and restaurant breaks. Please seek winter/spring opening times.

Wildlife & Birds

As a keen but amateur photographer the abundance of wildlife at Clearwater Cottage made our stay very special. Our morning routine was watching the variety of garden birds, geese, and wading birds on Loch Ailort with our tea and toast.

From the house we saw a hind and her calf and fortunately got to see Merv (Pine Marten) feasting on the jam and peanut butter bread and egg we left out!

From Arisaig we took the Sheerwater boat and saw seals, dolphins and a minke whale, which topped the trip off.

It is an extremely special place to witness wildlife in the Scottish landscape.'

Winter at Clearwater

'We love coming to Scotland during autumn and winter to witness the deer rutting, spectacular views of the autumn colours and finishing the day off by the fire with a whisky and hot chocolate. I have a keen interest in photography and walking so the winter sun on the snowy mountains, waterfalls and abundance of wildlife makes for some excellent pictures. If a rainy day we would highly recommend visiting the Kincraig Highland Wildlife Park, for endangered species. Our highlight was the polar bears and recommend the venison burger for lunch!

Thank you for a nice stay and already booked the house for next year!'

Paula from Kent

Kayaking

‘We really enjoyed exploring the islands, rocky coastline and beaches of Loch Ailort by kayak and paddleboard.  The views of the surrounding mountains and the sunsets over the islands of Eigg and Rum were absolutely spectacular.  Kayaks and paddleboards can be launched onto Loch Ailort from the beach which is a short walk from the house. Novice kayakers can enjoy visiting the local island, rocky inlets and the secret sandy beach whilst the more experienced can explore the many islands, coves, sandy and stony beaches dotted around the loch.  Always check the weather and tide times before venturing onto the water.’

GUEST REVIEWS

‘We were delighted by the birdlife around us.  As well as the typical garden birds there were spotted woodpeckers, willow warblers and a tree creeper.  Between us and the sea loch a small group of oystercatchers had colonised the shore and geese, shelducks, great northern divers and gulls and terns could be seen and heard on the loch.  All great to see, and in a wonderful environment.’

Ewan from Wiltshire
